UNREST AT KAUMONI BOYS HIGH SCHOOL IN KAITI CONSTITUENCY, MAKUENI COUNTY.
Chaos erupted at Kaumoni Boys High School in Kaiti, Makueni County after students allegedly torched several key administration blocks in protest over what they described as poor school administration and failure by the management to address their grievances. The angry students reportedly set ablaze the principal’s office, deputy principal’s office, dean’s office, laboratory and teachers’ staffroom, leaving behind extensive destruction estimated to be worth millions of shillings. Witnesses said the learners also smashed windows and vandalised other school property during the unrest. According to the Kenya Red Cross Society Makueni branch, the incident was reported shortly after midnight, prompting the county emergency response team to rush to the scene with an ambulance and fire engine.
